WASHINGTON\u00a0<\/strong>- Apr\u00e8s des n\u00e9gociations nocturnes vendredi et un vote unanime en faveur de la gr\u00e8ve en d\u00e9but de semaine, les machinistes repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s par le Syndicat des travailleurs de l'industrie du spectacle (STC) ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de faire gr\u00e8ve.\u00a0Alliance internationale des employ\u00e9s de sc\u00e8ne de th\u00e9\u00e2tre (IATSE), section 22<\/a>\u00a0ont conclu un accord pour un nouveau contrat de trois ans avec la direction du John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts \u00e0 Washington, D.C. L'accord a \u00e9t\u00e9 ratifi\u00e9 par les membres du syndicat lors d'une r\u00e9union aujourd'hui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La nouvelle convention pr\u00e9voit un gel des salaires la premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e, suivi d'une l\u00e9g\u00e8re augmentation de la r\u00e9mun\u00e9ration les deuxi\u00e8me et troisi\u00e8me ann\u00e9es. Deux nouveaux postes seront cr\u00e9\u00e9s dans l'unit\u00e9 de n\u00e9gociation. Des protocoles visant \u00e0 mieux prot\u00e9ger les travailleurs contre le covid ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tablis. Plus important encore, le syndicat a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 verrouiller les droits juridictionnels pour le REACH, une nouvelle aile du centre des arts de la sc\u00e8ne. La direction du KennedyCenter b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiera d'une plus grande souplesse pour la dotation en personnel des appels de chargement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Ce fut un long et dur combat, mais nous avons maintenant un contrat avec lequel nous pouvons vivre, qui prot\u00e8ge nos membres et donne au Kennedy Center le r\u00e9pit dont il a besoin pour se remettre de la douleur caus\u00e9e par la pand\u00e9mie\", a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 David McIntyre, pr\u00e9sident de la section 22 de l'IATSE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les machinistes s'\u00e9taient pr\u00e9par\u00e9s \u00e0 la gr\u00e8ve. \"Nous ne pouvions pas accepter que les responsables du Kennedy Center se servent de la pand\u00e9mie comme d'un levier pour vider notre contrat et nous ne voulions pas accepter la fiction selon laquelle une expansion du b\u00e2timent ne faisait pas partie du Kennedy Center. La position de la direction sur le REACH \u00e9tait un exc\u00e8s.\"\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorsque les n\u00e9gociations pour un nouveau contrat ont d\u00e9but\u00e9 il y a 16 mois, le Kennedy Center avait cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les salaires de 40 %, \u00e0 supprimer des emplois et \u00e0 mettre fin au paiement des heures suppl\u00e9mentaires le dimanche. Les responsables du centre insistaient \u00e9galement pour que le REACH soit consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme une installation distincte pouvant \u00eatre dot\u00e9e d'une main-d'\u0153uvre non syndiqu\u00e9e et faiblement r\u00e9mun\u00e9r\u00e9e. Les membres de l'ºìÌÒÊÓƵavaient propos\u00e9 d'accepter une r\u00e9duction de salaire de 10 % et de proc\u00e9der \u00e0 d'autres changements qui resteraient en vigueur pendant la pand\u00e9mie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintenant qu'un contrat a \u00e9t\u00e9 convenu et ratifi\u00e9, les repr\u00e9sentations pr\u00e9vues au Kennedy Center vont pouvoir avoir lieu.
